The Scan Takes Time (And That's Okay)

Removing an infection isn't always quick. Most scans can take about 10–15 minutes, but sometimes it can take hours depending on how much data you have, how fast your hard drive is, what kind of shape it is already in, and how deeply the infection has spread. We don't rush the process—a thorough scan is the only way to make sure we've caught everything. We'll give you a realistic timeline upfront.

When It Gets Complicated

Sometimes a computer has a "double whammy": where a virus or malware has infected your machine AND you happen to have a slow hard drive. This combination makes the machine super slow, even for our diagnostics. When this happens, we usually remove the hard drive and connect it to a clean computer for scanning. This bypasses the performance bottleneck and lets us work effectively.

Windows Security and Encryption Challenges

Modern Windows includes security features and encryption that can sometimes create obstacles during removal. We have the expertise and tools to navigate these complexities safely, protecting your data even when the removal process is intricate.

Most virus and malware removals typically take 1 to 2 hours of labor and it's all done. But there are certain situations where it can take longer such as:

• If your hard drive is already damaged
• The complexity of your system (RAID drive arrays, encryption, etc.)
• Whether we need to remove and scan your hard drive separately

We always diagnose your machine first, evaluate the scope of work, and give you a fair quote before we proceed. You have options, and we'll explain them clearly so you can make an informed decision. Sometimes, depending on the situation, you might be better off buying a new machine because fixing the old one will be almost as much as getting a new one. But we'll tell you that as soon as possible and give you all available options.
